Children and the Drinking Regime

Our little ones and their drinking regime

Children cannot say that they are thirsty. Parents should therefore make sure that their children drink regularly and if possible healthily - so spring water is just the right choice.

"A living organism can function only if every single cell is encircled by a constant amount of liquid with permanent structure," says Dr. Gabriela Miškejeová, a paediatrician with more than 35 year practice. "A sufficient water supply is essential for securing perfect division of liquids in our organisms. We certainly shouldn't burden children's organisms with inappropriate drinks. For drinking and preparing baby food we should use solely spring water that we can trust. From medical point of view it should be water with minimum content of nitrates (under 10 mg/l) and minerals."

Our children deserve the best. Therefore we should from an early age offer them liquids that help them such as spring water. Our bodies are from three quarters made out of water that needs to be permanently refilled. "The younger the child is, the more water their body contains, furthermore metabolism is faster in children," says Dr. Miškejeová. "That means that a child is more endangered by insufficient water supply than an adult. A newborn's body mass is from 80% made out of water, in an adult it's just 65%."

"Water helps our bodies to purify," says Dr. Miškejeová. "We need to offer children water regularly too because our little ones are unable to tell us that they are thirsty. Dehydration in children can be very dangerous and can lead to damaging of organism. While babies are breastfed, they receive a lot of liquids from their mother, but we should gradually teach them to drink. A one year old baby needs about 1000 to 1500 ml of liquids that they can gain partly from their diet and partly we need to supply them through drinking. Each waking hour they should drink 50 ml of liquids. Even here the same rule applies as with adults, rather drink continuously a little than a lot at once. And the most suitable of drinks is spring water. This water actually means life."

Lucka spring water for infants is from this point of view the most suitable drink. Water from public water chain contains chlorine that unnecessarily ballasts the bodies of our little ones. Natural spring water Lucka is a tried choice, by drinking it the child's organism is not ballasted by unnecessary substances, but is replenished by minerals vital for children's growth and development due to a balanced ratio of calcium and magnesium.

Totally non-carbonated spring water Lucka is designated especially for nurslings. It comes from an underground spring in Považský Inovec mountain not far from Piešťany. By manufacturing we make sure all hygienic regulations are met and its quality meets the strictest norms for waters for infants set up by the Food code of Slovak Republic. And besides - children love it. Thousands of satisfied mums, who have tried Lucka and they won't use any other water for themselves and their children, are proof enough.
